This is a photo of the MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) Recreational/Rec Center. I have passed by this building over and over again for almost five years now, and I've never thought about photographing it. However, a couple of weeks ago I was taking photos of a sunset on campus, and when I turned around I noticed the sky reflecting in the large windows of the Rec center. I shot a couple of photos before the sky turned too dark, and the photo I posted is a panorama of three photos taken with my 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, zoomed out at 11mm.
If you have ever seen the Rec Center, you know it is quite a large building and very spread out. Trying to shoot a panorama of the building was quite a challenge in post production, mainly because I was very close to the actual building (photos at 11mm look much farther than they are in reality). I would have taken the photo from farther away, except there were too many light poles in the way.
Post processing is very straight forward - hours of straightening and a couple of contrast adjustment curves. See the wicked original panorama after the RAW conversion here. Needless to say, the final version is a beast itself: the TIFF file is 1.2GB - 7500px wide, at roughly 26MP.
